Stream: Ducktails, "Letter of Intent"

Packed with several collaborations, Real Estate guitarist Matt Mondanile's forthcoming LP, The Flower Lane (out January 29th on Domino), promises to be his most evolved release to date under the Ducktails moniker. And if new single "Letter of Inent" is any indication, he makes good on that promise. The track, an intoxicating duet between Jessa Farkas of Future Shuttle and Ian Drennan of Big Troubles, is the funkiest, loungiest thing we've heard him release, due in part to the decompressed synth work of Daniel Lopatin of Oneohtrix Point Never. But it's still clearly a Ducktails song, retaining the woozy optimism and preternatural intricacy that made releases like Landscapes and Acrade Dynamics so irresistible.
