Daily Inspiration: Operation Ivy, “Bad Town”

January 04, 2013

Vampire Weekend will definitely release a new album this spring, according to a new interview with Q that surfaced today on Tumblr. The album, co-produced by the band's keyboardist Rostam Batmanglij and Snoop Lion/Icona Pop/Usher/Sky Ferreira collaborator Ariel Rechtshaid, was recorded in New York and LA; frontman Ezra Koenig calls it "darker" than the band's two previous efforts. To celebrate, here's 1989's "Bad Town," in honor of Vampire Weekend's professed affection for Operation Ivy, revealed in a 2010 Village Voice interview about their sophomore LP Contra. The song's got killer saxophone; maybe Vampire Weekend's third record will, too.
