Lookbook: Christian L’enfant Roi Fall 2013

January 17, 2013

Christian L'enfant Roi seems to dwell in a happy limbo between childhood ("L'enfant Roi" translates to "spoiled brat") and the more grown-up dandy pursuits which require wearing a silk shirt and pleated trousers. No surprise then that, when picking colors for the fall collection, L'enfant Roi-designer Christian Deslauriers had one eye peering into the Louvre at the fine art junglescapes of French master Henri Rousseau and the other one to the TV while plunked on the couch with a bowl of cereal watching the super-cute children's cartoon Kirikou et la Sorciere, which is based on West African folk tales about a newborn who saves his village. We see it especially in those finely-cut adult pants, with a print that reminds us of the leaves we used to paint with sponge brushes in kindergarten. Deslauriers makes arrested development look quite good.
