Last night was the long-awaited premiere of Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey as judges on American Idol, a debut made tense by insider reports of the two divas fighting at pre-show auditions, last October's grainy behind-the-scenes TMZ video clip of Minaj cussing Carey out and even Barbara Walters addressing the controversy (and fanning the flames) on The View. Finally we got our first peak, and though nothing too insane hit the screen yet, there were some terse exchanges. Mariah dissed Nicki's new hat; Nicki called Mariah a bitch. In a few interviews, Minaj has said that the fight has been blown out of proportion by the media, but whether it's trumped up for ratings or based in reality, it looks like it's going to make for some very riveting television in 2013.
