DIVA’s 2012 Moon Moods LP casts the Los Angeles musician’s delicate alto front-and-center for pretty much the entirety of its run-time, but there’s a little surprise on the album’s anthemic closer, where she pitches it down into a giant, hulking tenor. With its pastel palette and cast of Source Family-style matrons, Jimmy Marble’s video for “Avocado Afternoon” feels extremely well-suited to the song’s slow gait, which can only be an approximation of walking around stoned (or in some other vaguely spiritual state) while the heat’s beating down on you. Purchase Moon Moods via Critical Heights.
