Video: Cloud Boat, “Wanderlust”

January 30, 2013

Listening to Cloud Boat’s "Wanderlust," I mostly just thought about churches. The music they make is cavernous and hushed—good for sitting in a creaky pew silently and having an experience. Alex Kruszelnicki, the director of the video for "Wanderlust," had a different idea: focusing on rocky beaches and sepia-tones, a guy in bandages moving erratically next to a portable turntable, a little kid going wild while an ominous boat floats in the background. It all feels very David Fincher-esque, which is very much in line with the music the duo makes. Kruszelnicki, for his part, adds new perspective to the music, emphasizing the darker parts that I initially took for granted before.
