We sat in the studio audience two years ago when Tyler, the Creator made his TV debut on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, performing “Sandwiches” with Hodgy Beats. Yesterday, we returned to 30 Rock to watch him film two takes of a Fallon set of new, solo material from Wolf, out April 2nd via Odd Future Records. Playing a piano with shades on, he did “TreeHome’ with Coco, the singer of UK duo Quadron (the group’s other member is producer Robin Hannibal, who also plays in Rhye), before hypeman Jasper Dolphin nudged the vocalist aside, making way for a hoarsely hollered rendition of new single, “Domo 23,” that featured backing gyrations from Tyler’s tour DJ, Taco. Watch the performance, a prelude to Tyler’s upcoming tour, where he will command intimate venues on his own, without a whirlwind of Odd Future associates at his wing.
