Art Show: NYC 1993: Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star

March 08, 2013

Though it snuck up on us, 1993 was 20 years ago. The New Museum, in their show NYC 1993: Experimental Jet Set, Trash and No Star, are positing that that year was a pivot point to the kind of modernity we live with now. They've organized a show around New York in 1993, showing art of many mediums from that time. It was curated by Massimiliano Gioni, Associate Director and Director of Exhibitions, Gary Carrion-Murayari, Curator, Jenny Moore, Associate Curator, and Margot Norton, Assistant Curator—Moore was kind enough to give us a tour through many of the works and explain the genesis of the exhibit, along with why such an innocuous year maybe opened the portal to the future.
