Jay-Z's "Open Letter" has to be the first Soundcloud upload to receive comment, within a week, from both the White House press office and the President himself. In an interview with Savannah Guthrie aired this morning on Today which also covered gun control, abortion and Kamala Harris (the "best-looking" Attorney General), Obama confirmed, with a smile, that he didn't personally approve Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s anniversary trip to Cuba:

I wasn’t familiar that they were taking the trip. My understanding is I think they went through a group that organizes these educational trips down to Cuba. You know, this is not something the White House was involved with. We've got better things to do.

Last week, White House press secretary Jay Carney hypothesized that Jay-Z rapped Boy from the hood but got White House clearance because "treasury" (the department that licenses trips to Cuba) was a tough word to rhyme. It's really not that hard, says El-P, who offered these suggestions on Twitter: "treasury. pleasure me. feathery. weather we. better be. pleather T. severe the."
