In his video for “In The Dark,” shot partially inside a 12th century crypt in Prague, Los Angeles producer The Gaslamp Killer puts a creepy, Jodorowskyian spin on some seriously loaded religious iconography, cutting between burqa-clad zombie women and whirling devish-like priests. It’s eye-popping enough to stand on its own, but the song is pretty bone-chilling as well, with its screaming synthesizer bends and expert use of tremolo-ing strings to create a suspenseful, horror movie effect. Breakthrough is out now via Brainfeeder.
