Video: Jamie Isaac, “Softly Draining Seas”

June 17, 2013

Jamie Isaac started out collaborating with Archy Marshall, bka King Krule, which actually isn't much of a surprise. Both artists have a world-weary quality at a young age—a half-exhausted acceptance of life's weirdness that usually comes from a whole lot of experience and unpredictable left turns. But where Marshall's songs are thick with spit and venom, Isaac goes in a calmer direction. On "Softly Draining Seas" he teases autumnal melancholy from piano reverb and tiny clicks, his voice floating above. Like Marshall, he seems wise beyond his years. If you first heard the song and thought that the perfect video accompaniment would be lots of shots of Isaac staring distantly at a sun-dappled lake, then you're in a lot of luck, because that's exactly what you'll get here. Jamie Isaac's I Will Be Cold Soon EP is out June 24th on House Anxiety.
