Stream: Flaamingos’ Self-Titled LP

August 19, 2013

Previously, we posted two anthemic cuts from the duo of Jerry Narrows and Daniel Koontz, whose jagged guitars, warbling synths and morosely sing-spoken vocals seemed to belie their sunny Los Angeles location. Crystal-clear production values aside, Flaamingos, their self-titled debut LP, splits the difference between the late-'70s heyday of Factory Records and the '80s Glasgow of Orange Juice, although music with deliberate, instantly memorable melodies will always sound somehow fresh and current. Says Flaamingos of the release, which is out August 27th via Felte, "Two years of sampling, strumming, dancing, romancing, gigging, jiggling and recording, has lead us to this, our debut LP: Flaamingos, aka our hazy, jangly, synthy playlist to the Unlucky in Love Dance Party."
