Video: Avril Lavigne, “Rock N Roll”

August 20, 2013

When I DJed "Complicated" at FADER Fort this spring, Grantland's Rembert Browne tweeted "shout out to the decision makers," and I've taken that blessing to heart. Behold the new Avril video—going to be a while before something makes me as happy as this. "Rock N Roll" is pretty standard, "Sk8er Boi"-sounding Avril fare—don't fix it if it ain't broke—but it's this odd, Tank Girl-ish clip that puts it over the top. Unfolding in a litany of "what the shit?" there's a guy from Slipknot, the best delivered product placement line in recent memory, Billy Zane on a Segway and a kiss with the actress who played Winnie Cooper (followed by a grin-inducing, Wonder Years-referencing monologue). Avril Lavigne's self-titled fifth album comes out next week, on August 27th, god bless her.
