Video: Archie Pelago, “Chronomancer”

September 12, 2013

Archie Pelago are a Brooklyn-based trio that specializes in meticulous, tense dance music, but the real star of the weirdly catchy "Chronomancer" is the saxophone, which moves from breathy to sensuous and back again. I'd be lying if there wasn't some nostalgia for a time I never actually experienced at play as well—Archie Pelago offer a direct connection to Arthur Russell's dance experiments, which were warm, human, often playful and always surprising, just like "Chronomancer." Archie Pelago's Hall of Human Origins EP is out September 24th on Styles Upon Styles.
