Today, Slovakian globetrotter Filip Zemcik of the lo-fi pop blog Start-Track inaugurated a new label, Z Tapes, with a pair of releases: the gnarlier-edged wow so sad, by the Canadian duo Jackie Trash, and my favorite, the softer and more acoustic-leaning Bedroom Recordings, by the Salt Lake City solo act Euphoria Again. My eyes are doing this annoying, blurry thing, so I'm zoning out even harder than usual, watching the New York sky turn prematurely grayer and darker, like early night is staining strands of cotton ball clouds one by one, listening to the bleakest stretch from "Fathers" to "Massacre Isn't Marie" to "Luvvstuff," waiting for things to just all be black.
