A new exhibit at the Philadelphia Museum of Art is shining light on two FADER favorites, Gerlan Jeans and one of the brand's top inspirations from the past, Patrick Kelly. For those unfamiliar with Patrick Kelly, the African-American designer paved the way for eccentrics like Jeremy Scott and Ashish in the '80s with his fun over-the-top collections emblazoned with yin-yangs, peace signs and smiley faces that catered to teen girls before that was even a market. Gerlan Marcel, the designer behind Gerlan Jeans, talked about her love of Patrick Kelly in a FADER feature back in 2012 so it's serendipitous that her work is now sharing floorspace with his in the upcoming exhibit Patrick Kelly: Runway of Love, which runs from April 27-November 30. Check out a few photos below of both designers' work, courtesy of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
