Stream: Locke, “We Are The Prey”

Vulnerable tension is the order of the day for new NYC electronic pop artist.

FADER PREMIERE

New NYC artist Locke is not immune to mystery's charms. All I have along with this song is a picture of a pink tiger embracing a lion in a bite-y manner and this sentence by way of introduction: "I was attempting to channel the vulnerability of Sade with the tension of Suicide in this project and this is one of the songs that came out of that mindset." Vulnerable tension is not far of the mark in terms of the tone of "We Are The Prey": Locke sings softly but with a curled lip; a naive melody is swept up in towering bass; and a build comes outta nowhere to knock you off your seat. Intriguing, indeed.
