Sink Into “Friday” with Folk-Pop Artist Laura Groves

The Nautic singer/songwriter releases a piano “demo” that sounds nothing less than whole.

UK singer/songwriter Laura Groves has the kind of tone that stills the mind, making a little space for reflection. As one third of GEN F alumni Nautic, she spins that tone round summery pop stories but solo she reaches for something more rooted in the folk tradition. Everybody wants a piece of sacred earth to call their own, she sings on new piano-accompanied song "Friday", which is apparently just a demo though it feels nothing less than whole. There's a '70s vibe running through it, too, though Groves' sure, pure voice keeps you rooted in the present. If you're feeling this, dig into her release on Bullion's DEEK Recordings. TGIF, people.
