New Jersey’s Dan Svizeny has been releasing distorted, stupefied rock music as Cough Cool for a while now (an old favorite always sounds like you’re listening through half-functioning dollar store earbuds). His newest song, “No Shadows,” is a spunky, half-sunny number with a neurotically simple guitar line and a carbonated-sounding drum machine, less sleepy than most of his other material while still possessing a certain handmade charm. It shouldn’t amount to much, but it does. As far as I know, the song isn’t attached to a project, it’s just one of those Twitter one-offs, straight from his basement or wherever and out into our world.
