“Ocarina” is named after an ancient musical instrument and sounds like a medieval rave (sort of).

Rolling digital landscapes, rendering in a seamless yet gently mutating loop like re-skinned video game levels, are the quarry of German producer Simon Schilling, better known as Essáy. "Ocarina" is his latest odyssey, an 8+ minute glide through a pixel perfect day from sunrise to sunset. The title track from his new EP out July 1st on Cascine in the US and Glyph in the UK, it's named for an ancient musical instrument that makes a whimsical, flute-like tone—the kind that comes to mind when imagining just what went on at medieval social gatherings. Anyway, it's a very pretty and fitting name for this modern day composition.
