Watch Shamir’s Surreal “Sometimes a Man” Video

The 19-year-old singer wanders through Las Vegas’s strangely beautiful landscape.

I've always thought Las Vegas was a weirdly beautiful place. There's something so surreal about The Strip's towering hotels and flamboyant casinos collocated with the barren and sprawling southwestern US. Shamir, the 19-year-old singer who we recently profiled in a GEN F, wanders around this uniquely American landscape in the new video for his irresistible dance-pop song "Sometimes a Man." His explorations of Sin City and its surrounding areas (canyons, abandoned neighborhoods, slot-lined casinos) are enhanced by mild psychedelic visual effects that exaggerate an undeniable truth: Vegas is a total trip. The song is off Shamir's new EP, Northtown, named for the North Las Vegas suburb where he grew up. On June 15th, he'll perform live at Muchmore's in Brooklyn during GODMODE's Northside Festival showcase.
