FADER PREMIERE

I've never seen Los Angeles-based musician Bart Davenport play live, but I can tell from this video for that he's a pretty magnetic performer. "Fuck Fame" is a baritone, almost George Michael-esque soft rock number from his band's recent album, Physical World, on Burger Records/Lovemonk. In this absurdist clip, he plays a presumably already-famous, tux-clad playboy type, inexplicably holding court in a supermarket as he picks out the champagnes he prefers and gives grief to a personal assistant played by LA comedian Brent Weinbach. For some reason, even the way he laughs speaks seems to speak to his character's inflated ego, although he's equally convincing as a down-on-his luck street-sleeper after the video's melancholy twist.
