“Hard Knock Life” Producer The 45 King Blessed Boiler Room with an Hour Long DJ Set

Stream a chunky Boiler Room mix from legendary hip-hop producer The 45 King

The 45 King has had one of the most notable production careers in rap. After dominating the late 80s b-boy era with his inescapable horn break "The 900 Number" (you've heard it before), he led the Flavor Unit through the early 90s and, after a substantial hiatus, produced "Hard Knock Life" for Jay Z and "Stan" for Eminem within two years. As his name suggests, he's got a rep for deep crates: this mix is heavy on chunky eccentric old school, from Jay Z St. Ides liquor commercials to loopy jazz breaks, all spun from what look to be custom 7'' Serato controllers.
