Earlier this year Tennessee rapper Snootie Wild had a hit with the echoing "Yayo" that to many sounded close to Baton Rouge rapper Kevin Gates. Snootie's follow-up single "Made Me" featured K Camp on the hook using the same phrase--Got it out the mud--that Gates drops here. The rap world can be a small place it seems, but where Snootie's version was a bit more exuberant, Gates keeps his trademark world-weary stance. His is on sorted drug tales, plug betrayals and hustling enough to just put some food on the table, if Snootie wants to provide some levity, Gates never wants his listener to forget those struggles.
