The Square are seven producers and MCs based in the Lewisham area of South London, and while there’s been a lot of chatter about the future sound of grime or “grime 2.0” in the last couple of years, these guys are quite literally it - not one of them is over 20. Members you might have come across before include Novelist, who appeared on Mumdance’s huge "Take Time" and produces as well as rhyming (and he’s only 17, wbu?) and producer Lolingo, who makes Amerie samples go hard and runs with London’s fast-exploding instrumental grime club night and collective Boxed. Also among the ranks are MCs DeeJillz, Elf Kid, Syder and Faultsz and producer Streema. On this crew track from their upcoming mixtape (dropping via No Hats No Hoods on August 26th), every member of The Square contributes beats and bars to a cheeky love letter to big breasts and big fat bum[s]. You’ll be muttering who’s that chick, that girl is a pengaleng all day after this.
