Father’s 808s Are Almost as Cold as His Wrists On “Fake AF (NYC)”

Watch Father’s new video “Fake AF”

August 26, 2014

I can't listen to Father, the icy young producer/rapper repping Atlanta's Awful Records with a downright hit "Look At Wrist" under his belt, without thinking of the golden era of 2007, when the Cool Kids pillaged '80s 808s to create a booming yet minimalist sound that was largely ahead of its time. So it was ill to see Cool Kids-producer Chuck Inglish top the comment section of Father and iLoveMakonnen's "Nokia (Remix)" with a hearty stamp of approval: "dope." Last night, Father dropped "Fake AF (NYC)," a smirking verse spit with eyes rolled and a gold noose around my neck, with a KeithCharles Spacebar beat that knocks just as hard. His album Young Hot Ebony is "coming soon af," but poke around Awful's tumblr to dig for something to hold you over.
