Iceage’s “How Many” May Be Their Third Album’s Biggest Anthem Yet

Off their forthcoming LP Plowing Into The Fields Of Love

Although some of us might miss Iceage’s supremely ripping early output, the way they’re pushing their sound in new directions is undeniably interesting. They introduced their new album, Plowing Into The Fields Of Love, with a country-influenced lead single, “The Lord’s Favorite,” then followed it up with the dredging, haunted strains of “Forever.” Now, with “How Many,” they sound as addicted to catharsis as ever, but like they're wringing it out at a different pace, indulging a little more in sustain than in release. It's messy as hell, as Iceage tends to be, but it crests in a genuinely anthemic chorus, one that seems to want to bring people together as much as it wants to tear them apart.
