Highlights From the Kanye 101 Syllabus

Yeezy taught him.

Complex had the brilliant idea to catch up with a student from Kanye's court-mandated college course at LA Trade-Tech College, his hair still freshly coiffed for Paris Fashion Week. According to the student he had what sounds to be both a unique teaching style ("definitely very animated, waving his arms around and stuff like that, and talking with his big voice") and a slightly strange syllabus (paranoia about an unnamed "they" and the Illuminati were both on the menu). We've pulled our favorite quotes from the student, below.

"He talked about how Ice Cube is one of his biggest inspirations and one of his biggest let-downs. He talked a little bit about Steve Jobs. He talked a little bit about, how 'they want to control us.' And 'they want to keep us on drugs,' and all this kind of stuff. And that 'we are slaves to our house.' And 'we are essentially economic slaves.'"

"He gave examples about who they [the Illuminati] are, and stuff like that. Someone asked if he listens to his own music, or if he listens to other people’s music. He said he likes to listen to his own music since he thinks he’s the best artist, still."

"He did not mention the word Adidas at all."

"He was all over the place. He reminds me of my brother, the way he didn’t really stick to one thing."

"He was giving examples of different things and saying that having a Rolex or a Benz is not something that actually represents your success because there’s always something more expensive to buy. So, he was saying that success was really being able to do things for others as well as the people around you and yourself."
