Joey Bada$$ Says He’s Finished His Debut Album, Shares Vintage New Tune “Get Paid”

Making an album is like making ice cream, and this whole time, he’s been searching for sprinkles.

Joey Bada$$ dropped by MTV News this week with the welcome information that his debut album, B4DA$$, is finished and should be in our ears soon. It's been a year and a half since he announced the project's title, but this week he clarified, "It's pretty much been completed for a while, but it's like when you make ice cream, it's that cherry on the top that really brings it all together. The whole time, I've been searching for sprinkles, and now I got it nicely decorated and everything, so it's ready to go." Sweet. The record is set to feature the likes of Hit-Boy and DJ Premier, as well as Canadian electronic/pop chart-stormer Kiesza. "Get Paid," which appeared on Joey's Soundcloud overnight in celebration of his new tour, is vintage Bada$$: its boom-bap haze and anthemic get-rich lyrics are enough to warp time, making us feel like we want to go straight back to the heady golden era and yet also like we need to fast-forward to B4DA$$, like, now.
