J. Cole Shares The Tracklisting For His “Surprise” Album

The new record, named after Cole’s childhood home, will see him go it alone with no features.

November 30, 2014

J. Cole's almost-surprise new release 2014 Forest Hills Drive is a stripped-back affair, set to drop on December 9 with no lead singles or videos. Today, he's revealed that it's even more low-key by publishing the tracklist, which shows that Cole hasn't recruited a single feature. Steeped in nostalgia, with the album's title pinning it to a specific place—Cole's childhood home, which he recently purchased—we're expecting a singular, character-defining listen. But we can't know for sure; right now, the only people to have heard the album are a select group of fans that were invited to the actual 2014 Forest Hills Drive this weekend for a cute and cosy listening party on headphones. See photos from the intimate listening session below, pre-order the record here, and find out what Cole's dreams are made of in our backstage interview from earlier this month.
