Update 12/16/2014: According to LilWayneHQ.com, the "special project" Mack Maine teased yesterday may well be a sequel to 2011's stopgap mixtape Sorry 4 the Wait. As evidence, the Young Money fansite points Instagram posted by YM affiliate Fee Banks that shows Lil Wayne in the studio and is accompanied by a caption that reads "Sorry 4 the Wait 2." Think Wayne is twice as sorry this time around?

The strange, confusing saga of the status of Lil Wayne's Tha Carter V continues: earlier this month, Wayne went off on Twitter to claim he was breaking off with Cash Money for goodclaims that his manager quickly refuted soon thereafter. Now, Cash Money president Mack Maine has given his take on the situation. In an interview with Miami radio station 99 Jamz, Maine claimed that the record's now set for release in early 2015: "He's touching up the album and about to start another special project for the people...We're still in talks right now, trying to get the plans together. The industry shuts down towards the end of the year anyway. It's coming out. Don't get it twisted like it's not coming out...He wants it out, the fans want it out."

Speaking to the specific troubles between Wayne and Cash Money, Maine was similarly vague but optimistic: "It's just some business that's gon' need to be handled...Everybody has their breaking point. I support Wayne 1,000 percent. I feel like this matter will get resolved. Period. If I'm still around it'll be resolved." Listen to the interview below.
