Iggy Azalea Calls Azealia Banks A “Bigot”

“There are many black artists succeeding in all genres. The reason you haven’t is because of your piss poor attitude.”

December 19, 2014

The current feud between Harlem MC Azealia Banks and the ever-ubiquitous Iggy Azalea teed off a few weeks ago, when Banks took to Twitter to accuse hip-hop-appropriating artists such as Iggy for staying silent on the recent, infuriating grand jury decisions not to indict the police officers who murdered Eric Garner and Mike Brown. She also coined the instantly indelible epithet "Igloo Australia" to refer to Azalea:

Igloo—sorry, Iggy—replied with a series of tweets indirectly addressing Azealia's statement and unintentionally confirming her lack of interest in current events. All was quiet for a bit—then, Azealia went on NYC radio station Hot 97's Ebro in the Morning show yesterday and further detailed her issues with Azalea (starting at 8:00 in the above video):

"...In this country, whenever it comes to our things—black issues, black politics, black music, whatever—there's always an undercurrent of a 'fuck you', 'fuck y'all niggas. Y'all don't really own shit, y'all don't really have shit.' You know what I'm saying? That Macklemore album wasn't better than the Drake record. That Iggy Azalea shit ain't better than any fuckin' black girl that's rapping today. When they give those awards out—The Grammys are supposed to be accolades for artistic excellence, you know what I mean? Iggy Azalea is not excellent."

Iggy caught wind of these comments and went off today in a series of tweets that read as—if we're being totally honest here—fairly condescending and displaying an overall lack of racial understanding.

Azealia herself hasn't directly addressed Iggy yet, but she's issued an invective assumedly directed towards enraged Igloo—sorry, Iggy—fans:

And for what it's worth, looks like she's got Q-Tip on her side:
