The Breakfast Club had Nicki Minaj's ex-boyfriend and producer Safaree Samuels on the air today, and an iced-out Samuels, wearing a fur gilet and taking emphatic sips from a coffee cup, was surprisingly forthcoming. Below, here's sixteen claims about Samuels and Minaj's relationship that Charlemagne and the gang brought to light.

1. Safaree broke up with Nicki

"I moved on. I walked away from the situation. I walked away, I'm not gonna say I broke up but I left. I packed up my stuff and I left. It just got to the point where the respect was gone."

2. Their breakup was about more than just fame

"I don't want to get to deep into all of that but everyone around her works for her…I was being treated like an employee instead of like her man...I don't think it was money, I don't think it was fame. But when you're that big of a brand you're like a walking, breathing corporation. You're always on. If we go out, I can't even hold your hand, I can't even put my arm around you. I'm an affectionate dude. I don't want to have to be walking a couple steps behind you and acting like you're not my girl. After a while that put a strain on somebody...I'm not saying I'm the victim and she's the abuser, she may not have liked the way I handled myself in the privacy of our own home. But the whole trying to pull me down publicly, I can't do that."

3. Nicki never caught him cheating

"I was at the wrong place at the wrong time, I do admit that. But the girl they said I was messing with, that didn't happen. Any girl would love to come up off that type of story. Our problem isn't really about cheating. It's about outgrowing each other."

4. He doesn't know or care if Meek Mill told Nicki he cheated

"Listen, me and her were together for me and her. No one else had anything to do with our situation. No one else had anything to do with where we are now. I know people probably do try to tell her stuff but I don't know who or what...I'm not out here trying to fight people. I'm trying to fly."

5. Their breakup was extremely difficult emotionally

"I definitely have been in places where I feel like 'I don't want to be here anymore.' I feel like everybody's felt like that before. It's not an easy thing to deal with. Now I'm happy I'm at the point where I can see it or be in the car listening to the radio and not be bothered anymore."

6. He was never jealous of Nicki and Lil' Wayne's relationship

"If it wasn't for Wayne none of us would be here right now. it's a song!...As far as the "Only" song that's something people on the outside took as disrespect more than I did. Wayne can say whatever he wants in a song.Maybe I've been dealing with it for so long it kind of seemed like the norm to me. I got numb to it. I've been dealing with so much craziness. Nah, I really just was like so numb to all of that, it is what it is. Nobody can't do nothing that's gonna hurt me, I can feel a way about something and then move on. I definitely feel like there were some stuff that didn't have to be done but it is what it is."

7. He's cool with Drake

"As much as people want to think I have such a problem with Drake, I don't really know him that well but I like Drake. Drake is a respectable dude. He didn't know at first but after a while he knew we were together and he was respectful."

8. Everything he spent was his own

"People are saying 'Oh, you gotta take back your cars," or whatever. Everything that I have, we got together. So if I say I'm gonna buy something, I bought it, with my money. I don't have to go up to her and say, 'Hey can you buy me this please?' No, don't work like that."

9. They never had a physical altercation

"Nah, I would never hit her."

10. She didn't not bust the windows on his car

11. He helped define her sound

"Everybody gets help. and there's nothing wrong with getting help. I'm not saying I'm biting, I'm not saying I'm the originator. This is something me and her did together. And that doesn't take away from what she's done, she's still the top of her league. Ain't nobody better than her."

12. Nicki never kept him from rapping

"She just wanted me to be her support system. I can't blame her for that. I feel like I was getting to the point this past year as a person, outside of her, I lost myself."

13. Their breakup won't affect his success

"It's crossed my mind, but you know, I don't worry about it. When somebody's good at something, it won't matter."
