Katy Perry is learning that there's no way of stopping a meme—until it fades out. Since the Super Bowl halftime star went after artist Fernando Sosa for selling Left Shark merchandise, his attorney has fired back with a salty letter claiming that A) most costumes aren't copyrightable and B) Katy Perry wouldn't even own the rights to the shark costume if it was; the NFL would. Not only does Sosa's lawyer outline this for Perry's team, he also asks the question on everyone's mind: "We also wonder what Katy Perry could possibly stand to gain from declaring war on an Internet meme?"
