Portland Trio Guantanamo Baywatch Premieres “Too Late”

Featuring back-up vocals from Burger records crooner Curtis Harding.

February 10, 2015

I saw Guantanamo Baywatch live once, years ago, in a sweaty Boston venue above a restaurant that sometimes hosted wild garage rock shows. Back then, the Portland trio were making boisterous, classic-sounding surf that was perfectly suited for parties just like that one. But this new jam from the band's upcoming full length is definitely a stylistic shift; the rockabilly-tinged "Too Late"—which also features backing vocals from Burger Records crooner Curtis Harding—sounds closer to something that might have been performed during The Last Waltz than the sort of party-ready rock that one Boston haunt was famous for hosting. But Darling…It's Too Late drops May 12th via Suicide Squeeze; check some tour dates below, too.
