R.I.P. “It’s My Party” Singer Lesley Gore

Singer/songwriter passed away of cancer Monday morning in Manhattan.

CBS Los Angeles reports that Lesley Gore, the singer/songwriter best known for the 1963 single "It's My Party," died earlier today at the age of 68; her partner confirmed that she passed of cancer at the New York-Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan. The Brooklyn-born, New Jersey-raised Gore signed to Mercury Records after being discovered by Quincy Jones as a teenager; she released 12 studio albums during her recording career, made many regular appearances on TV shows, and co-wrote the Academy Award-nominated "Out Here On My Own," from the 1980 film Fame, along with her brother Michael.
