London via Sri Lanka producer My Panda Shall Fly, real name Suren Seneviratne, refuses to corner himself into any single style—this FADER interview from a couple of years back attests to his eclecticism. On new track "Overcast," we find him expanding his scope even further by partnering up with synth gauze expert Karen Gwyer. Together, they've come up with a welcome dose of sublime ambient pop, with its different sections coming together like a slow drip of textures that alternate between slimy, messy, and bright. Seneviratne gave The FADER a little background on the track via email: "I was pleasantly surprised when Karen first sent me the parts to what would eventually become 'Overcast,' he explained. "I gave her free reign on the vocal side of things and she sent me some brilliantly muted vocal parts and in addition some great melodic/rhythmic parts too, and the track had become something else completely." Stream the track below and be on the lookout for its proper release on Too, My Panda Shall Fly's debut album, due April 7th on Project: Mooncircle.
