“All it would have needed was a call or an email to the company and I think it would have been relatively cheap.”

Bringing an 18-month legal battle to a close, Jay Z has agreed to go halfsies with the royalties made off "Versus" to 78 year old Swiss jazz musician Bruno Spoerri, Daily Mail reports. Speorri accused Jay of borrowing his song "On The Way" for the Magna Carta...Holy Grail track, and has said that although he was flattered, he would have appreciated a heads up. "In a way I'm flattered that a relatively young rapper takes a sample from an old man, a sample that is about 35 years old," he told SwissInfo last year. "On the other hand I'm furious because it would have been so simple to clear the sample. All it would have needed was a call or an email to the company and I think it would have been relatively cheap."
