Lorely Rodriguez's output as Empress Of has produced thoughtful, saccharine electronic music. She's spent the last year quietly writing and producing all of her debut album, due this summer on Terrible Records, and "Water Water" is the first look. The lyrics are nebulous and funny enough—Water, water is a privilege, just like kids who go to college—and the big back-room sound splashes like whitewater. Rodriquez will head on the road for dates with Florence + The Machine and Jamie xx, and also host a five night residency at New York's Elvis Guesthouse where she'll play jams and bring out some friends.
