NAAFI is a Mexican label known for their affiliation with American dance label Fade to Mind, a connection made clear this past new year's eve at their Club de Playa party in Oaxaca, which featured a handful of artists from the US label. Imaabs is a Chilean artist and central figure of the NAAFI crew, and his Distancia EP will mark the next release for the label. The record's lead track, "Voy," is streaming below: an international blend of dembow rhythm, blistering rave synths and a grime-esque melody hat develops into something really menacing. While genre collaging can often come across sloppily in music production, Imaabs executes with a keen understanding of everything he uses, bringing it all together in a succinct, toxic vision. "'Voy' [which means 'I go'] is a quest and resonance between the different landscapes of cities like Monterrey, Santiago de Chile and Mexico City," Imaabs told The FADER. "It is the mix of sounds, noises of machines, and Latin American rhythms." NAAFI will release Imaabs' Distancia EP on April 27th (pre-order it here).
