Miley Cyrus Launches Happy Hippie Foundation With Music Video Series

Cyrus performs in her backyard with Joan Jett and others to raise money for vulnerable populations

May 05, 2015

Miley Cyrus launched her Happy Hippie foundation today with a series of music videos that feature the pop star performing in her backyard with famous guests like Laura Jane Grace and Ariana Grande. You can watch legendary rocker Joan Jett join Cyrus for the first backyard session over on Facebook. The foundation's goal is to raise funds for the homeless, members of the LGBT community, and "other vulnerable populations." (Cyrus memorably sent a homeless youth on stage to accept her VMA and raise awareness about homelessness in 2014.)

In a statement accompanying the announcement about the video series, Cyrus declared, "Pointless judgment and its effects are unfortunately something that is way to common. All humans have valid feelings and rights! I want to use my voice as a megaphone to young people everywhere and encourage human evolution." She added, "No one should have to hide who they really are, no matter what his or her name, gender or status."
