Punchy dance-pop duo MS MR will unleash their sophomore album How Does It Feel on July 17. Written in a rented room in Bushwick, with some help from, it will feature 12 new songs, including two features from likewise dynamos Tove Lo and MNDR, and will be blistering and bright if the lead single "Painted" is any indication.
The video for "Painted," premiering today on The FADER, captures the songs neon vigor perfectly. With director Tabitha Denholm (Jessie J, Haim), they brought one particularly evocative lyric—What did you think would happen / When you put me in unnatural space—to life, imagining themselves the subjects of some sort of chlorophyll-fueled experiment. The result is a visual that, the duo told The FADER, was "heavily inspired by Kubrick as well as the 1970s documentary The Secret Life of Plants." They go on: "We wanted to explore the juxtaposition of natural and unnatural environments and what happens when they're forced to reckon with one another. The end result is a virtual reality psychedelic experiment gone awry—welcome to the odyssey.”
