Yung Lean Releases New Song And Video “Roses”

A tribute to a fallen mentor.

May 30, 2015

On April 8, Hippos In Tanks co-founder Barron Machat passed away in a car accident. At the time his focus was Yung Lean and the Sad Boys, putting together sold out tours as their manager, and establishing their record label Sky Team. In the YouTube description of the just-released video for Lean's new song "Roses," there's a brief but touching obituary: "IN Memory of Barron A Machat aka our own Stanley Kubrick." The clip itself is a 144p Sad Boy swimming loop glitched to infinity, and the White Armour-produced tune has the Swedish rapper ruminating on death in his uniquely glazed-over drawl: "I don't wanna pay for shit and I don't wanna die / Lean gets all his shit for free 'cause I gotta survive."
