Arca Shares “Vanity” Off Upcoming 7”

More hypnotic, warped goodness from the FADER cover star.

May 31, 2015

FADER cover star Arca has shared his second song in the past week, this one a free download. "Vanity" is signature Arca through and through, with the Venezuelan producer pursuing more melodic movement than he did with his last track "Washed Clean." And as always, collaborator and visual artist Jesse Kanda provides the the track with a jarring humanoid cover art that seems to embody the track's unpredictable sonics. According to the SoundCloud description, "Vanity" is off Arca's upcoming single release.

Also included in the description is a link to the Fundación Reflejos de Venezuela, which (if Google Translate and my rudimentary high school Spanish are serving me properly) is a Venezuelan organization that is dedicated to promoting and fighting for LGBT rights. As Arca explained in his cover story, being openly gay in Venezuela still isn't largely accepted, and there is a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage in the country that has been in place since 1999. Stream "Vanity" below.
