Nick Bassett typically plays moody, loud-as-hell rock songs in his bands Whirr and Nothing. Under the vaguely twee alias Camera Shy, though, dude has teamed with his former Whirr bandmate Alexandra Morte to make something with significantly softer edges. "I've been into Sarah Records and jangly bands like The Smiths and Belle and Sebastian since high school," Bassett told FADER in an email. "I had always wanted to do something like that, but it just never happened." Until now, that is: "Colors Radiate," premiering below from the duo's self-titled full-length, definitely sounds like the wobbly, reverb-y product of those indie-pop influences. Listening to Morte's watery voice singing atop sweet, statuesque guitar melodies feels like a sunbeam hitting you in the face. Camera Shy is out July 14th via Boston's on-fire-right-now rock label, Run For Cover Records.
