Meek Mill Got On A Song With Nigeria’s Hottest Singer And It’s Flames

“Fans Mi” is a hugely pleasant surprise from Philly’s most wanted and Afropop’s rising son.

On his latest genre-mashing single with Meek Mill, Nigeria's Davido claims I remember when I had no money in my bank account. It may be a stretch: the 22-year-old pop star was born to one of the wealthiest business magnates in his home country, and he's enjoyed a string of afro-house crossover hits like "Tchelete (Goodlife)" that have boosted his name across waters on all sides.

But none of that matters now, because Davido slips into kingpin character perfectly in "Fans Mi." It's an out-of-nowhere collab where he and in-house producer Shizzi try their hand at the rack-throwing rap sound Meek Mill has perfected for at least four summers. Shot by prominent Nigerian director Sesan Ogunro, the clip is all models and mansions, with cultures crossing seamlessly enough for Meek to shout out West Africa as the beat swings to a close. In his FADER Summer Music cover story, a reinvigorated Meek has come home and wants to do everything bigger. This is more than a start.
