GENER8ION And M.I.A. Team Up On A Violent New Video

“The New International Sound Pt. II.” blurs the line between fighting and dancing.

June 15, 2015

GENER8ION celebrated the release of his new EP today by putting out a new video for the M.I.A.-assisted track, “The New International Sound Pt. II.” As the music in the Inigo Westmeier-directed clip ramps up, a horde of identically-dressed children sprint towards the camera: it could be recess, or it could be revolution. (According to a press release, these are some of the 36,000 students who attend Shaolin Tagou, “the largest fighting school for youth in China.”) The tracks grand, buzzing synths seem to signal an approaching battle, as the children execute a series of impeccably-choreographed moves almost graceful enough to make you forget the violence behind them.

The New International Sound, Pt. 2, featuring three songs in addition to the title track, is out today.
