The Preatures “Cruel” Video Immortalizes A Wild Rainy Night

The Sydney quintet premieres a feel-good ode to a feel-good song.

Though a lot of The Preatures throwback rock tunes feel best suited for fun in the sun, the video for the Sydney quintet's groovy single "Cruel" is a rain-soaked affair. It's not even a little dreary, though. "Sydney had had the worst storms in over 100 years that week, so the city was in a weird state," singer Isabella Manfredi, or Izzy, told FADER in an email. "The clip is just us having fun with our friends. After 2 months on the road we came home and played a secret gig for friends and family with Sydney bands Mezko and Holy Fool. It was a great night." Shot on a SONY camcorder by a friend, the video features footage of the band playing live, skipping through wet streets, ransacking a convenient store for snacks, and more. It's a feel-good ode to a feel-good song.
