Since its inception, Stéphane Ashpool has championed Pigalle's namesake neighborhood, traditionally a gang and drug-pocked area well known as a "late-night" destination in Paris. One of the designer's most visible efforts has been organizing a basketball team for teens aged 14-18. In a recent article, Dazed writes that the team is "a way to shift focus from the social deprivation of their area." Ashpool went a step further and featured the youths—who listen to "Trap Queen" and idolize A$AP Rocky as they attempt to sidestep the culture that surrounds them—in his S/S 2016 show, which included a short documentary on the players from Pigalle. It's pretty amazing.
