Rihanna Actually Kind Of Kidnapped Some Fans Last Night

Winners of a Tidal contest were blindfolded and driven to an undisclosed location.

Rihanna has a thing for kidnapping. Remember the famous #777Tour? Gawker published a story from a journalist on the singer’s plane who noted that “one person was basically responsible for not only regularly keeping us from doing our jobs, but from sleeping or eating or going outside or even using a bathroom.” And Rihanna's new “Bitch Better Have My Money” video is a glorious ode to abduction.

It turns out the singer also sort of kidnapped some fans (and at least one journalist) at her video premiere event last night—though she treated them very nicely. According to Billboard, 80 people who entered a contest sponsored by Tidal signed a couple disclaimers and forfeited their phones for the evening. They were then put on buses, blindfolded (in a nice touch, the blindfolds were emblazoned with the Tidal logo), and carted away. The captives were kept happy with a steady stream of Rihanna tracks and cash prizes for those who answered Rihanna-related trivia questions correctly. The whole thing ended with a “BBHMM” video screening accompanied by food, booze, and a surprise appearance by the star in the flesh.

Tidal released a video documenting the event, which you can watch below. Also make sure to check out the fiercest moments from the “BBHMM” clip, and find out if it’s based on a real-life revenge fantasy.
